5 Stars Love everything about this book !
This book is so much fun, we purchased this book at Disneyland and thought it would be fun to find all the hidden Mickeys throughout the parks and hotels. Not only did a teenager who is usually, well a teenager enjoy it but he said it made the trip better for him. I thought it made the family even closer, because as we were going through the rides we would all get so excited to see the mickeys that we had always passed by. The book also gives you the website for even more hidden mickeys, because they are always adding more. I think that if you are planning a trip to Disneyland then you should have this book, it will make your trip that much funnier especially if you have a teenager.
4 Stars Interesting but…
This book introduces the reader to hidden mickeys. I want to point out that you can buy this book IN the park so it’s not like Disney is trying to keep any secrets where hidden mickeys are concerned. I would also recommend that folks check out the hiddenmickeys.com website for pictures of some of the mickeys. The website is more fun than the book but obviously not as portable.
5 Stars Find the Hidden Mickeys—Disneyland
This book is alot of fun for any Disney fan. My daughter and I go to Disneyland several times a year, and have really enjoyed looking for the hidden Mickeys within the park. The book has a scavanger hunt section that gives hints without telling you where they are so you can hunt them on your own. Or you can read the section that tells you exactly where to look. Either way lots of fun.
5 Stars Adds to an already fun trip
We took this book along on our last trip to Disneyland and had a blast trying to find all the hidden Mickeys. It’s a great way to get family members of all ages involved in a fun game.
3 Stars Hunting for Hidden Mickeys
Over the years, the Imagineers who work for Disney have hidden Mickey in various attractions around the parks. Finding them has become a sport. And with this handy guide, you’ve got an easy reference to help you find them.
After an introduction, the book breaks itself into three chapters, or “scavenger hunts.” One is set in Disneyland, one in California Adventure, and one in the hotels, Downtown Disney, and even the parking garage. No, I’m not making that up. Each chapter is further divided into “clues” and “hints.” The clues are rather vague like (making one up), “Look around in the second room you pass through.” But the hints spell things out for you. “Check out the dishes on the far wall. The three plates on display are a perfect Mickey.” The clues and hints are both numbered, so it’s easy to flip back and forth and find the hint for a clue that is completely stumping you.
The instructions in the book are clear enough that anyone should be able to find anything they are searching for. I’ve looked for some during my last two trips, and found them pretty easily. Granted, I usually look at the hints, but still.
The problem comes from the layout. The “scavenger hunts” are designed to minimize wait times by taking you to all the popular attractions first. However, that also means you are walking all over the park. You start at one end of the park, cross to the other, then go back to the first later. Since I was just using the book to find them as I rode rides, I found it frustrating to have to constantly flip through the entire chapter to see if the current ride was listed or not.
The book is narrow and skinny enough to fit in a back pocket. But it is tall, so I kept mine in my backpack.
I have a feeling this book will become a friend as I continue to hunt for Mickey around the park. I will continue to be annoyed by the poorly thought out layout, however.
